Outdoor Ads or Out of home ads. The billboard on Guadalupe

Out door ads are everywhere. I see them on campus occasionally weather its a plane flying over, billboards, benches, buses, posters, whatever. Most of the time I don't pay much attention to them. There is one of Guadalupe st that I do seem to look at alot and almost run into the back of other cars. Its right under Kens donuts. The reason I pay so much attention to it is because it changes! I guess anything with a little interactivity will catch my eye. The billboard changes and it looks pretty good. A lot of the time when I see a billboard its all raggidy and messed up. I assume that it costs more than the average billboard to post your ad in that one particular spot on Guadalupe because a) location and b) I think it would be harder to put your ad there because the way it rotates and how you have to put the print in the billboard in. Since we are in a college town the usual ads I notice on that particular billboard are either beer or adult swim.

According to Action Signs and Billboards (http://actionsignsandbillboards.com/), the family owned business in Minnesota, the boards are tri-paneled. There are multiple advantages dealing with the mechanical and electrical side. Also you are able to time and control the viewing time of each face. So I guess you could always pay more and have your ad show up longer than all the rest. Whenever I look at that billboard it does seem like some ads are longer than others.
They also have rotating mobile billboard trailers, and trucks.

Here is a link to a demo of a rotating billboard. I would say that the movement does catch the eye. I wonder how many panels
you could actually put on the billboard and then
how many ads you could really get on one billboard?

Here is another way of viewing a rotating billboard. It doesnt always have to have the panels.  And you could say that this isnt even a billboard...more like a sign. Who knows im sure there is a formal name like signboard.

This kinda reminds me of minority report with all the ads popping up scanning our eyes and whatnot but that probably only because its digital. I think this can really capture some peoples and kids attentions because of the crisp clear image and light. We all are attracted to light and shiny things arnt we?
